The Spanish tactician joins on a one-year deal, replacing TG Purushothamman, who previously served as the interim head coach.
A former central defender, Catala enjoyed a stellar playing career, making over 500 professional appearances, primarily in Spain and Cyprus. He spent a significant part of his career at AEK Larnaca, where he transitioned into coaching post-retirement.
His managerial career took off in the 2021-22 season, guiding Larnaca to a third-place finish in the regular season and second place in the championship round, earning them a spot in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers.
After his tenure at AEK Larnaca, Catala moved to Apollon Limassol, where he secured his first managerial trophy—the 2022-23 Cypriot Super Cup, defeating Omonia Nicosia. He later took charge of Croatian side NK Istra 1961 before returning to Spain to manage CE Sabadell in the Primera Federación, Spain라이브 바카라 third division.
Catala has also gained valuable experience managing teams in European competitions. His Apollon Limassol side participated in the UEFA Europa League qualifiers before entering the UEFA Europa Conference League group stage, where they finished third, narrowly missing out on a knockout berth.
