Delhi SG Pipers Vs UP Rudras Highlights, Hockey India League: DSGP 1-3 UPRU At Full-time

Good evening! Welcome to the live coverage of the Hockey India League 2024-25 match between Delhi SG Pipers and UP Rudras.

Delhi SG Pipers are currently placed at the bottom of the points table with just four points in four matches. UP Rudras are at the sixth place with six points in the same number of games.

Earlier in the day, Hyderebad Toofans defeated Soorma Hockey Club 4-3 in the shoot-out to earn a win after the score was locked at 1-1 in the regulation time.

Here we go then. A big game for both the sides. A loss here could really complicate things for these teams.

6' UP Rudras get the first PC of the match.

They try a variation and it does not work. Ward took the shot. Fired it low and towards the far post but it is a bit too far.

Both teams are trying hard but have not quite created enough danger in each other's goalposts.

The hooter sounds and the first quarter of the game has ended. Both teams are still goalless but some exciting action coming up for sure as the two sides aim to get the scoreline moving.

Second quarter is underway now and scores are still locked at 0-0. Both sides need a big attack here.

24' PC for Delhi SG Pipers and they get another one. Back-to-back PCs for Delhi who till now had not got even one.

Another PC awarded on field but the decision overturned and changed to a long corner. So, the PCs do not bring the good news for Delhi SG Pipers.

29' Delhi SG Pipers score their first goal!!!

Jake Wheton finds the net right at the stroke of the half-time. Brilliant strike from Wheton and he makes full use of some lose play by the UP Rudras. Wheton gets the ball and smashes it high in the net to take Delhi SG Pipers ahead in the game.

30' UP Rudras score their first goal!!!

Exceptional! We are witnessing an amazing passage of play before the half-time whistle. Delhi's lead does not last long. Floris Wortelboer gets the leveller for UP Rudras. Mazarelo commits too soon and Wortelboer just lobs the ball over him after a brilliant run from the baseline.

Second half is now underway. Both teams locked at 1-1 after late goals at the stroke of half-time.

After a slow start to the third quarter, the two sides have picked up pace. Delhi SG Pipers earned a PC but could not score but they have kept the UP Rudras defence quite busy.

43' UP Rudras score their second goal!!! Kane Ruseell takes UP Rudras ahead. Three PCs on the trot and Ruseell gets the net on the third attempt for Rudras. Rudras have taken the lead.

Final fifteen minutes of the match are now underway. UP Rudras have taken the lead and Delhi SG Pipers need one goal to level things and stretch the game into shootout.

53' Important save for the UP Rudras and Mazarelo stands tall. Manjeet with the shot for Delhi SG Pipers but Mazarelo denies them the equaliser.

54' Third goal for UP Rudras!!!

A PC and a goal. This might just be the killer blow. Tanguy Cosyns, from the first battery, slams the ball high and hits the roof of the net.

There is the final hooter and UP Rudras have earned a win finally after back-to-back losses. A big victory for them and a massive loss for Delhi SG Pipers who are yet to win three points in a game in this league so far.

It was another good game of Hockey at the Birsa Munda Stadium in Rourkela. Delhi SG Pipers and UP Rudras looked set to enter the half-time goalless before both teams struck right at the stroke of the hooter. Over the final two quarters, UP Rudras scored two more goals and sealed the game in their favour.

This game ends Round 5 of the HIL. Delhi SG Pipers remain stuck at bottom while UP Rudras have now jumped up to the second spot in the table.
