The celebrations have not stopped for the joyous Australian team as they beat India by six wickets at the Narendra Modi stadium on Sunday. Cummins was seen posing with the World Cup trophy amidst the vibrant environment of the Sabarmati river.
After the win in the final against India, an elated Cummins said that they played the best cricket for the final game. "I think we saved our best for last. Couple of big match players stood up, and we're pretty stuffed. We've been batting first pretty much for the whole tournament, today we thought, it's a good night to chase down, we thought it might actually get a little bit easier. About the game, India were bowled out for a meagre 240 runs in their alloted 50 overs. On a dry surface in Ahmedabad, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma (47), Virat Kohli (54) and KL Rahul (66) were the prominent scorers for the team as they were bowled for the first time in the tournament.
Mitchell Starc (3/55) was the pick of the bowlers for Australia. Skipper Pat Cummins (2/34) and Josh Hazlewood (2/60) also bowled well. Adam Zampa and Glenn Maxwell got a wicket each.
In reply, Australia were reduced to 47/3 but Travis Head (137) and Marnus Labuschagne (58) made sure the Aussies were not out of the game as they chased down the game with minimal ease to win the final by six wickets.
The World Cup finalists will now compete in a five-match T20I series which will begin on Thursday in Visakhapatnam.
