The inaugural Neeraj Chopra Classic, originally scheduled for May 24, has been postponed indefinitely due to the escalating cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan, the organisers announced on May 9.
“In view of the current situation, the first edition of the NC Classic has been postponed until further notice,” the organisers stated. “The decision was taken after extensive deliberation, keeping in mind the safety and well-being of athletes, officials, and the broader community.”
They emphasised that while sport has the power to unite, the present circumstances demand solidarity with the nation. “Right now, our hearts and gratitude lie with the Armed Forces who are standing guard for the country. We hope to return with a revised schedule in due course. Jai Hind.”
The new date for the Neeraj Chopra Classic will be announced once the situation improves.
