Liverpool maintained their eight-point lead at the top of the Premier League after a thrilling 2-2 draw against Aston Villa. The Reds, unbeaten in the league since a September loss to Nottingham Forest, initially took the lead with Mohamed Salah's 29th-minute goal. However, Villa responded with goals from Youri Tielemans and Ollie Watkins, putting them ahead before Trent Alexander-Arnold equalised shortly after halftime. With this result, Liverpool sit comfortably ahead of Arsenal, who can narrow the gap with a win against West Ham on Saturday, especially if Liverpool loses to Manchester City on Sunday. Aston Villa, now ninth, featured Marcus Rashford, who nearly created an own goal from Virgil van Dijk within the first 20 minutes. Salah capitalised on a mistake to score, but Villa equalised quickly.
