Gauff, ranked fourth in the world, broke her 20-year-old opponent on four occasions during a first set in which she dominated the pace and rallies.
There was little let-up in the second as the 21-year-old continued to dictate the match and routed her opponent en route to setting up a last-eight tie with fifth seed Jasmine Paolini.
Italian Paolini did not have it quite as easy but was still too good for Jule Niemeier in a 6-1 7-5 win.
Jessica Pegula won a sixth straight clay-court match for the first time in her career (five in Charleston and one in Stuttgart) with a 6-1 6-1 of Magdalena Frech.
