Borussia Dortmund secured their place in the Champions League last 16 after a goalless draw against Sporting in the second leg of their knockout tie. This followed a convincing 3-0 victory in Lisbon last week, with goals from Serhou Guirassy, Pascal Gross, and Karim Adeyemi. Despite dominating the match, Dortmund missed a penalty in the second half when Rui Silva saved Guirassy's shot. Dortmund will face either Aston Villa or Lille in the next round. Sporting, the current league leaders in Portugal, made five changes for the match and lacked attacking intent, failing to threaten Dortmund significantly. The first shot on target came 27 minutes in from Dortmund's Marcel Sabitzer.
