Aamir Khan As A Villain: Five Times He Played Darker Roles

As actor-producer Aamir Khan celebrated his 60th birthday recently, let's take a look at his lesser-explored roles—the villains. Though initially offered Darr (1993) and Josh (2000), he turned them down, as he was reluctant to take on negative roles.

1. Earth (1998):

In one of his most layered performances, Aamir Khan portrays Dil Navaz, the Ice-Candy Man. Set in pre-Independence Pakistan and during partition, he treads two awakenings—one of religious and communal identity, and the other of love and desire. His character that began as a beloved figure gradually descends into violence, ultimately killing his friend and abducting the woman he loves, a Hindu.

2. Fanaa (2006):

Rehan Qadri is charming, flirty, and wins over Zooni (Kajol). But when the mask drops, he is revealed to be a militant leader, cold, brooding, and bound by his mission of an independent Kashmir. Aamir Khan balances this character shift without losing emotional depth; even as he embraces his goal, his longing for Zooni never fades, making Fanaa one of his must watch performances.

3. Dhoom 3 (2013):

Unlike its earlier installments, Dhoom 3라이브 바카라 antagonist is a righteous one. Sahir is not just robbing banks—he is seeking vengeance for his father라이브 바카라 death. By day, he is the showman of The Great Indian Circus, performing a teleportation trick (borrowed from Christopher Nolan라이브 바카라 The Prestige (2006)); by night, he pulls off heists that leave the police astounded. The twist? Sahir has a twin, Samar, a person with autism whose innocence is a contrast to Sahir라이브 바카라 fury. Between the aerial acrobatics and his emotional duality, Khan stands apart from the rest of the cast.

4. Aatank Hi Aatank (1995):

In this remake of The Godfather (1972), Aamir Khan plays Rohan, the son of Shiv Charan Sharma (Ishrat Ali). Like in the original, Rohan initially distances himself from the family business. However, after his father is shot, he seeks revenge by taking down Gogia Advani (Bharat Kapoor) with the help of Munna (Rajinikanth). Forced to flee, he eventually returns—not as an outsider, but as the new crime boss. Despite the film setting up for sequels, the following parts were never made.

5. Raakh (1989):

In this National Award-winning film, Khan plays his namesake Aamir, a man in his prime who seeks to avenge the rape of his beloved Neeta (Supriya Pathak). However, his thirst for revenge soon spirals into an obsession with violence, ultimately leading him to a death row.
