There were two major South releases this week- Nani starrer Telugu movie, Hit: The Third Case and Suriya's Tamil film, Retro. Both the films earned a double-digit number on Day 1, by collecting in the range of Rs 19 crore nett.
As per a report in Sacnilk, Retro minted Rs 19.25 crore. The maximum collection for the Suriya-starrer, came from the Tamil market, as it raked in around Rs 17.25 crore nett, and Rs 1.95 crore nett came from the Telugu market.
Nani's film had a solid start of Rs 19 crore, with maximum collection of Rs 18.25 crore from the Telugu marker and Rs 0.35 crore nett from the Tamil language.
Both films have received mixed reviews from the critics and audiences alike. They are giving neck-to-neck competition to both and it would be interesting to see which film triumphs over the weekend. Hit 3 and Retro are expected to cross the Rs 50 crore mark by the end of the first weekend.
