Actor Vijay Sethupathi and Soori starrer Viduthalai Part 2, directed by Vetrimaaran released in theatres on Friday, December 20, in Tamil and Telugu languages. On day 1, the period action drama earned around Rs 7 crore nett in India, as per Sacnilk. As of now, the film collected Rs 1.22 crore today, i.e. on day 2.
On Friday, it had an overall 38.5% Tamil occupancy and 19.79% Telugu occupancy. Viduthalai Part 2 is produced by RS Infotainment and Grass Root Film Company.
Also starring Manju Warrier, Viduthalai 2 is the sequel to 2023 film Viduthalai: Part 1. It dives into the backstory of Vijay Sethupathi's character, Perumaal Vaathiyaar. It starts off where the first part ended. The film focuses on several important issues like violence, oppression, and social justice.
Viduthalai 2 also stars Gautham Vasudev Menon, Rajiv Menon, and Chethan in key roles. Anurag Kashyap has a special cameo appearance.
Zee5 has already bagged the OTT rights of Viduthalai: Part 2 and the sequel is expected to have digital release in January 2025.
Talking about Viduthalai: Part 1's box office collection, it had grossed Rs 3.5 crore on its opening day in March, 2023. Viduthalai's lifetime collection stands at Rs 60 crore.
