Close on the heels of Delhi Elections 2025, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided to shift its focus towards broader issues of governance. After the BJP's surprising success in securing the Muslim majority seat of Kundarki in Uttar Pradesh Assembly by-elections in November last year, the party is likely to move away from its divisive Hindutva rhetoric.
The saffron party has adopted a two-phase campaign strategy to take on the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi. With the elections set for February 5, the BJP is positioning itself as the party of change and emphasising AAP라이브 바카라 alleged failures in governance over the past 10 years while keeping its own promises in the spotlight.
If party insiders are to be believed, the BJP is opting not to highlight Hindutva in its Delhi campaign. They said that party members have been instructed by the senior leadership to refrain from making anti-Muslim comments or taking a hardline stance on religious issues.
A senior BJP leader said on strict condition of anonymity that the first phase of the campaign will continue till the announcement of the complete list of candidates.
“We are scrutinising AAP라이브 바카라 record during this period. The party is particularly in areas where the AAP government has faced criticism such as civic mismanagement, pollution and corruption. We are coming up with a series of posters across the city to contrast the achievements of our governments in states like Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat with the ongoing problems in Delhi. We are citing the example of the Sabarmati riverfront project in Ahmedabad versus the contaminated Yamuna River in Delhi,” he said.
Once the final list of candidates is released, the party will switch to its second phase, which will emphasise its vision for the future of Delhi. This, according to him, will include specific promises for the city. District and Mandal-level BJP workers have already been mobilised to promote these plans and highlight Prime Minister Narendra Modi라이브 바카라 vision for a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India), with Delhi as the “Viksit Capital”.
The sources said the party will also not unveil its chief ministerial face like it did in other states such as Haryana. They said the party will rely on its collective leadership model and Prime Minister Modi has been positioned as the face of the campaign.
This decision reflects ongoing factionalism within the Delhi unit of the party. However, if the BJP manages to win the election, sources suggest, it may offer the chief minister라이브 바카라 position to a new face, rather than one of the existing local leaders.
The politics of the national capital has AAP라이브 바카라 dominance; and therefore, the BJP sees an opportunity to capitalise on anti-incumbency. The sources said the BJP, through its “Parivartan” (change) slogan, is seeking to tap into voters’ disillusion over corruption allegations against AAP leadership, most importantly the liquor policy scandal, which forced Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to step down.
The BJP, claimed the party insiders, has the strength of a robust organisational presence across the city, including in unauthorized colonies and slum areas – where the party is carrying out outreach campaigns. BJP라이브 바카라 landslide victory in the 2024 general elections, where it bagged all of Delhi's seven Lok Sabha seats, gives the party a solid foundation heading into the polls.
However, the road ahead does not seem to be smooth for the party as it has yet to field candidates for over 40 seats. BJP also struggles to project a strong local leader to challenge Kejriwal, who has managed to build a strong, personal brand in Delhi. In addition, the BJP라이브 바카라 track record in minority-concentrated areas remains weak. It failed to win a single seat in such constituencies during the last two Delhi Assembly elections in 2015 and 2020.
The BJP, despite these hurdles, believes that AAP라이브 바카라 decade-long rule has left the party vulnerable to anti-incumbency, particularly as Delhiites grapple with issues such as poor infrastructure, air pollution and water crisis. The saffron party has launched a “charge sheet” campaign against AAP라이브 바카라 local MLAs to highlight their alleged failure to deliver on promises they had made.
If the BJP can maintain its momentum and rally Delhi voters around the need for change, it may well stand poised to challenge AAP라이브 바카라 grip on the capital.
