The Election Commission of India released a comprehensive set of 42 statistical report on Thursday that revealed that the Lok Sabha polls held in 2024 made a world record with 64.64 crore Indian voters exercising their franchise. Not only that, women voters outnumbeed men, marking only the second time in the history of LS polls in the country.
ECI also saw a 23.5 per cent rise in the registration of Third gender electors. There was also a rise in the number of women candidates contesting the polls this time.

The data also relates to the four assembly polls that took place in Arunachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Sikkim this year.
The Election Commission of India has said that the release of this data set is part of a suo moto initiative to "enhance the public trust that constitutes the underpinning of India라이브 바카라 electoral system".
"The release of extensive data sets is also in furtherance of the Commission's policy of maximum disclosure, greater transparency and accessibility of election-related data for all stakeholders including academia, research and the general public," said the poll body.
Further describing the details of the data ECI stated, "The data sets cover a range of variables, such as details of PC/AC /State wise electors, number of polling stations, State/ PC wise voter turnout, Party wise vote share, gender-based voting behaviour, state wise participation of women electors, regional variations, constituency data summary report, performance of National/ State parties/ RUPPs, winning candidates analysis, constituency wise detailed results and many more. Researchers, policymakers, and journalists can now utilize this wealth of data prepared to conduct in-depth insights and analyses."
In the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections, there were 97,97,51,847 registered electors which is a 7.43% increase compared to 91,19,50,734 in 2019.
The 2024 Lok Sabha Elections created world record with 64.64 crore votes while the number stood at 61.4 crore in 2019.
The combined total of EVM and postal votes in 2024 was 64,64,20,869.
Of the total votes, 64,21,39,275 were cast using EVMs, including 32,93,61,948 male votes, 31,27,64,269 female votes, and 13,058 third-gender votes.
Postal ballots accounted for 42,81,594 votes in 2024.
Dhubri (Assam) had the highest voter turnout at 92.3 per cent.
Srinagar (J&K) had the lowest turnout at 38.7 per cent, a significant increase from 14.4 per cent in 2019.
There were 11 parliamentary constituencies with a voter turnout of less than 50 per cent.
The NOTA (None of the Above) option received 63,71,839 votes, or 0.99% of the total, slightly lower than the 1.06 per cent in 2019.
While the female voter turnout was recorded at 65.78 per cent, the male voter turnout stood at 65.55 per cent.
The voter turnout among transgender voters (third gender) was 27.09 per cent.
In 2024, there were 47,63,11,240 female electors out of a total of 97,97,51,847, an increase from 43,85,37,911 female electors in 2019.
Female electors made up 48.62 per cent of the total electorate in 2024, compared to 48.09 per cent in 2019.
Puducherry (53.03%) had the highest percentage share of female electors in 2024, followed by Kerala with 51.56 per cent.
In 2024, the number of female electors per 1000 male electors reached a new high of 946, compared to 926 in 2019.
In this Lok Sabha elections, 65.78 per cent of female electors voted (excluding Surat), slightly higher than the 65.55 per cent of male electors who voted. Thus, the female voters outnumbered the males in turnout record in 2024.
The parliamentary constituency with the highest female voter turnout was Dhubri (Assam) with 92.17%, followed by Tamluk (West Bengal) with 87.57%.
The number of female contesting candidates increased to 800 in 2024, up from 726 in 2019.
Maharashtra had the highest number of female contesting candidates with 111, followed by Uttar Pradesh with 80 and Tamil Nadu with 77.
There were no female contesting candidates in 152 of the 543 parliamentary constituencies.
In 2024, the number of registered third-gender electors increased by 23.5 per cent, reaching 48,272, compared to 39,075 in 2019, with Tamil Nadu having the highest number at 8,467.
The number of registered Persons with Disabilities (PwD) electors also rose significantly to 90,28,696 in 2024, up from 61,67,482 in 2019.
According to ECI, transgender voter turnout nearly doubled, increasing from 14.64 per cent in 2019 to 27.09 per cent in 2024, while the number of registered overseas electors grew to 1,19,374, up from 99,844 in 2019.
In 2024, there were 10,52,664 polling stations, a slight increase from 10,37,848 in 2019, with only 40 polling stations requiring repolling, compared to 540 in 2019.
Uttar Pradesh had the highest number of polling stations (1,62,069), while Lakshadweep had the lowest (55), and Bihar saw the largest increase in polling stations (4739) compared to 2019.
In 2024, a total of 12,459 nominations were filed, an increase from 11,692 in 2019, with 8,360 candidates qualifying after rejections and withdrawals.
The highest number of nominations was 114 in Malkajgiri (Telangana), while the lowest was 3 in Dibrugarh (Assam), and the number of contesting candidates in 2024 exceeded that of 2019, which had 8,054.
In the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections, 6 National Parties participated, securing 63.35% of the total valid votes, while 7,190 candidates forfeited their deposits, an increase from 6,923 in 2019.
Surat (Gujarat) had one uncontested seat, and out of 3,921 independent candidates, only 7 were elected, with independents receiving 2.79% of the total valid votes.
