Foreign Minister Rasmussen stated that “it worries me deeply because we do not spy on friends.”
The report has highlighted that the US is ramping up its vigilance and intelligence gathering with its spy agencies asked to focus on Greenland's independence movement. Rasmussen has said that, “We are going to call in the U.S. acting ambassador for a discussion at the foreign ministry to see if we can confirm this information, which is somewhat disturbing,” as reported by Reuters.

The Danish Security and Intelligence Service (PET) has declined to comment but said that it is monitoring the situation against both Greenland and Denmark in general given the international interest in the area, as reported by the BBC.
