Days after the killing of Iraqi anti-Islam activist Salwan Momika, far-right Danish-Swedish politician Rasmus Paludan was spotted buring a copy of the Quran.
The controversial politician was spotted burning copies of the Quran outside the Turkish embassy in Denmark. As per reports, Paludan took to burning the Quran not to criticise the religion, but to pay his respects to the "sacrifice of Momika."
"I am standing here with a couple of Qurans at the embassy of Turkey in Copenhagen. As you can see, there is already one burning. This is to commemorate the sacrifice of Salwan Momika and his criticism of Islam. Yesterday, the Copenhagen police decided to ban my protests. The solution is to tell the police you're having a protest. I had a lot of fun burning this big book...," he was quoted as saying.
Salwan Momika made headlines for his protests in 2023 when he burnt the Quran in Sweden. Momika's desecration sparked outrage across many Muslim nations.
In response to Momika's burning of the Quran, many Iraqi protestors stormed the Swedish embassy in Baghdad in July 2023 and set it ablaze.
38-year-old Momika was shot in a house n the town of Sodertalje near Stockholm last week.
