As Israel resumes its war on the Gaza Strip, the Hamas-run health ministry has released a document which shows that the death toll due to Israeli bombardment stands at 50,000. Over 15,000 deaths have been attributed to children, of this, nearly 900 are children aged zero.

In this 1500-page document, which talks of the martyrs killed in the war since October 2023, the first 27 pages attribute the deaths of thousands of children, all aged zero.

Shared on the Telegram channel of the health ministry, the document shows that the death toll in the Gaza Strip has crossed 50,000.

However, it is to be noted that the toll mentioned in the document includes those bodies which have been identified and accounted for. Many remain missing, buried under the rubble or yet to be identified.

After accessing the document, it was seen that 15,613 children under the age of 18 have been killed due to the Israeli bombardment and military operations in Gaza.

Of this, 876 children were killed at the age of zero. 3,249 children between the ages of 1-5 were killed due to Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip.

With the overall documented toll at 50,000 in Gaza, at least 31.226% of the deaths have been attributed to children under the age of 18.

As per the statistics issued, 5,745 children between the ages of six to 12 have been killed (36.8%), 26.3% of children were between one to five years old and 31.2% of the deaths were children between the ages of 13 to 17.

Speaking to CNN on the document, the Israeli military has stated that the figures are "replete with inconsistencies and false determinations,” adding that Hamas has recorded deaths "unrelated to the conflict as part of the overall toll."

The military added that Israel remains committed to reducing harm to civilians in the Gaza Strip. However, for the past year and a half, Israel's actions have stated otherwise.

Israel resumed its attacks on the Gaza Strip last week, ending the two-month ceasefire in the Palestinian territory. Israel and Hamas agreed to the US ceasefire proposal which called for a three-phase ceasefire ultimately leading to the end of the war.

However, after this ceasefire was implemented, the US government saw a change in administration. With Trump's support for Israel and its "operations" in Gaza, the already fragile ceasefire fell apart and the blame was put on Hamas.

Since the start of the war on October 7, 2023, Gaza's two million population has been displaced from their homes. The healthcare system has been destroyed under the pretext of "Hamas' hidden tunnels", and refugee and shelter camps are constantly under attack.

Adding to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Israel's blockade of aid has left a dire situation and famine in part of the Gaza Strip.
