As the war in Gaza continues, the UN agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) has stated that current blockade on aid is the longest Palestinians have endured since the start of the war in October 2023.
Taking to X, UNRWA stated that nearly 400,000 people have been displaced in Gaza after the breakdown of the ceasefire in March.
"They are now also enduring by far the longest blockage of aid and commercial supplies since the start of the war. We call for a renewal of the #CeasefireNow, a dignified release of all the hostages in Gaza, and unimpeded flow of humanitarian aid and commercial supplies," the agency added.
As per the United Nations, a large percentage of women and children were killed in the Israeli attacks after the breakdown of the Gaza ceasefire on March 18.
"Between 18 March and 9 April 2025, there were some 224 incidents of Israeli strikes on residential buildings and tents for internally displaced people,” said UN human rights office, adding that “in some 36 strikes about which the UN Human Rights Office corroborated information, the fatalities recorded so far were only women and children”.
Meanwhile, Israel has claimed it eliminated a Hamas sniper in the Tal as-Sultan in the Rafah area in the southern Gaza Strip. The IDF added that it killed several Palestinian fighters and "neutralised booby-trapped structures" in the areas.
