Amid the diplomatic fallout between India and Pakistan due to the Pahalgam attack, Pakistan has reportedly announced the partial closure of the Karachi and Lahore airspaces.

As per media reports, Pakistani aviation authorities on Thursday, citing security concerns, will close down certain portions of the airspace in Lahore and Karachi.

Pakistan's Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) added that the closure will not significantly disrupt commercial flight operations, as aircraft will be rerouted via alternative flight paths during the restricted hours.

As per the official notice, this partial closure will impact selective corridors within the Karachi and Lahore Flight Information Regions (FIRs), rather than a complete shutdown. Officials stated that this measure comes as a precautionary security measure.

This partial closure will be valid till May 31, 2025.

Pakistan had already closed its airspace for Indian airlines following the diplomatic fallout between New Delhi and Islamabad due to Pakistan's alleged involvement in the Pahalgam attack.

On April 22, terrorists opened fire at a group of tourists in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam. The incident occurred in the famed meadows of Baisaran valley and killed 26 people, including one Nepali citizen.
