Myanmar has been locked in civil war with multiple armed opposition groups since a 2021 coup, when the military seized power from the elected government of Nobel Peace Prize laureate Aung San Suu Kyi.
An armed resistance group opposing Myanmar's military government earlier condemned the junta for carrying out airstrikes on villages while the country is still reeling from an earthquake that has claimed over 3,000 lives.
As per Reuters, the Karen National Union, one of Myanmar's oldest ethnic armies, issued a statement saying the junta "continues to launch airstrikes on civilian areas, even as the population endures immense suffering from the earthquake."
The group said that under normal circumstances, the military would be prioritising relief efforts, but instead is focused on "deploying forces to attack its people".
Military Accuses Rebel Group Of Attack
According to BBC, the military regime held two rebel groups in the alliance that declared a ceasefire accountable for carrying out attacks while one of the two groups said fighting broke out in response to military offensives.
Citing reports received by the UN Human Rights office, as of Friday, the military had carried out at least 14 attacks since the ceasefire declaration on April 2.
BBC said that Military Council spokesman Maj Gen Zaw Min Tun, issued a general statement saying "we will respond if military bases are attacked without reason".
UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk urged "a halt to all military operations" and a focus "on assisting those impacted by the quake, as well as ensuring unhindered access to humanitarian organisations" following the 7.7 magnitude quake on 28 March.

Over 3,000 Killed In Myanmar Earthquake
Citing state media, BBC reported that the official death toll from the earthquake in Myanmar rose to 3,564 on Monday while another 5,012 people were injured and 210 people remain missing.
A 7.7 magnitude quake recently hit Myanmar with the epicenter near Myanmar라이브 바카라 second-largest city of Mandalay . It damaged the city라이브 바카라 airport, buckled roads and collapsed hundreds of buildings.
The quake has not only taken lives but also increased the possibility of hunger and disease outbreaks in a country amid the ongoing civil war, as warned by aid groups and the United Nations.
