Russia launched a massive drone attack and airstrikes in Ukraine early Sunday, resulting in at least four deaths, AP reported.

This comes as United States President Donald Trump expressed scepticism about Russian President Vladimir Putin's commitment to ending the war.

According to the Ukrainian air force, Russia has launched nearly 149 explosive drones and simulated weapons in the latest series of attacks, of which 57 were intercepted and 67 were jammed.

What did Trump say?

Donald Trump on Saturday said he doubts Putin wants to end the more than 3-year-old war, expressing new scepticism a peace deal can be reached soon. Only a day earlier, Trump had said Ukraine and Russia were were"very close to a deal".

After attending the funeral of Pope Francis at the Vatican, Trump wrote in a social media post, “There was no reason for Putin to be shooting missiles into civilian areas, cities and towns over the last few days."

On Sunday evening, as he left his golf club in New Jersey, Trump told reporters he remained "disappointed" in Russia's attacks.

North Korea with Russia

Meanwhile, North Korea has confirmed that it sent troops to fight for Russia against Ukraine, BBC reported.

North Korea's military claimed its soldiers assisted Russian forces in "completely liberating" the Kursk border region, citing an order from leader Kim Jong Un, according to a report by state news agency KCNA, as cited by BBC reports.

Citing KCNA, the BBC reported that the decision to deploy troops was in accordance with a mutual defence treaty between Pyongyang and Moscow.

"They who fought for justice are all heroes and representatives of the honour of the motherland," Kim said, according to KCNA.
