The Attari-Wagah border, which saw hundreds of people crossing over from both Pakistan and India after the Pahalgam attack, has been completely shut.
The Attari-Wagah border crossing point has seen a heavy rush of people from India and Pakistan both, trying to cross over after the Union government ordered all Pakistani citizens with short-term visas to leave India following the Pahalgam terror attack.
On Thursday, as per the Hindustan Times, a Delhi resident, whose sisters are married in Karachi, said that the Pakistani side was not allowing them to cross the border.
"I came here with my sisters at 6 am. The border opens at 10 am. At 11 am, we asked the officials, and they said our government has given the order and we are sending people from here, but they (Pakistani side) are not allowing them to cross the order. We are still waiting here..." said Mohammad Shariq.
The Attari-Wagah border crossing point is now completely closed and no one from either country is allowed to cross over to the other side.
125 Pakistani nationals left India on Wednesday through the Attari-Wagah border, with the total number of Pakistanis leaving the country rising to 911.
On the same day, 152 Indian nationals and 73 Pakistani nationals with long-term Indian visas entered India through the border. Taking their numbers up to 1,617 and 224, respectively.
Following the terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which claimed 26 lives, the Centre issued the 'Leave India' notice to Pakistani nationals.
On April 25, Union Home Minister Amit Shah asked the Chief Ministers of all states to ensure that no Pakistani stays in India beyond the deadline set for leaving the country.
