In a fresh setback to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) within days after the poll debacle, the Ministry of Home Affairs on Friday requested President Droupadi Murmu to grant sanction to prosecute AAP leader and former Delhi minister Satyendar Jain in a money-laundering case which is being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

According to PTI, the sanction against the 60-year-old politician has been sought under Section 218 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). The sanction has been sought on the basis of an Enforcement Directorate (ED) investigation and the presence of "adequate proof", as per the ministry.

What Is The Case Against Jain?
The federal investigation agency ED booked the AAP leader in connection with a money-laundering case linked to alleged hawala dealings and arrested him in May 2022. He is currently out on bail and has been charge-sheeted by the ED.
The money-laundering case stems from an August 2017 FIR filed against Jain and others by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on charges of alleged possession of disproportionate assets.
The CBI filed a chargesheet in December 2018, stating that the alleged disproportionate assets were to the tune of Rs 1.47 crore, about 217 per cent more than Jain's known sources of income during 2015-17.
Jain Out Of Tihar Jail On Bail
On October 18, Satyendar Jain walked out of Tihar Jail after he was granted bail by a city court in the alleged money laundering case.
The court of Special Judge Vishal Gogne, while ordering Jain라이브 바카라 release on a personal bond of rupees 50,000, considered the fact that the AAP leader had been incarcerated for a long time.
Jain was arrested in May 2022 and remained behind bars, except for a period of 10 months between May 26, 2023, and March 18, 2024, when he was on medical bail.
Satyendar Jain lost the Shakur Basti seat to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Karnail Singh by nearly 21,000 votes in the recently held Delhi assembly polls.
