Delhi Police lodged a FIR against Aam Admi Party convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for 'misusing public money', as confirmed by PTI, PTI confirmed.

According to a report by news agency ANI, Delhi Police have registered an FIR on a complaint against AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal and others over allegedly violating of the Public Property Act.

Delhi police filed a compliance report in Rouse Avenue court and informed that an FIR has been registered. The matter is listed for the next hearing on April 18.

What Was The Case ?

According to a report, the complaint filed in 2019 alleged that Arvind Kejriwal, then Matiala MLA Gulab Singh, and then Dwarka a ward councilor Nitika Sharma "deliberately misused public money by putting up large- sized hoardings" at various places in the area.

"This court is of the considered opinion that the application u/s 156(3) Cr.P.C. deserves to be allowed. Accordingly, the concerned SHO is directed to register FIR immediately under section 3 of Delhi Prevention of Defacement of Property Act, 2007 and any other offence that appears to have been committed from the facts of the case," Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Neha Mittal said, as quoted by PTI.

Arvind Kejriwal is currently out on bail in a case related to the alleged Delhi liquor policy scam. He also faced defeat in the February 5 Delhi Assembly elections including in his own constituency of New Delhi.
