The Indian Railway라이브 바카라 flagship train - the Vande Bharat express - is susceptible to accidents even in minor cases of cattle run over, a railway safety report stated.
The Hindu, which had access to the report, mentioned that since the front coach of the Vande Bharat trains are comparatively lighter than other regular trains, a collision with any hurdles at high speed becomes dangerous.
The report is compiled by the Ministry of Civil Aviation라이브 바카라 Commission of Railway Safety to ensure measures of safety for high-speed trains.
The Ministry of Railways is recommended to identify usual trespassing locations of cattle and implement suitable mechanisms. The report mentioned that Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel should be deployed, regularly patrolling and providing passage to effectively help farmers cross over the train tracks with their cattle.
The report strictly warns against trespassing and urges RPF and other officials to constantly keep an out for cattle and farmers. Additionally, people living around the railway properties also need to be sensitised of the dangers of trespassing.
The report comes at a time when the Indian Railways is planning to operate trains at 160 kmph over several routes, and increasing the speed of trains from 130 to 160 kmph.
Along with the increase in the speed, new permanent and temporary speed restrictions were also introduced around sharp curves, putting extra stress on Loco Pilots.
The report has suggested to lessen these speed restrictions and instead easing curves, increasing transition lengths and simplifying yard layouts.
Shubhranshu, former Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer, ICF, said that the engineering of the front locomotive was designed to absorb some impact pressure and squeeze. Moreover, the cattle guard at the front can also deflect the obstruction.
He said the front coaches of Vande Bharat express trains matches the average weight of the coaches. “It is light compared to a locomotive. But that is how trainsets are designed. There is no locomotive at the front and the propulsion power is distributed along the train. Even the EMUs, MEMUs of Indian Railways and all Trainsets anywhere in the world have similar arrangements. It doesn’t make the train any less safe on this account,” The Hindu quoted him saying.
By December 26, 2024, a total of 136 Vande Bharat train services ran across the railway network. In 2024 alone, 62 Vande Bharat train services were introduced.
