The border states of Rajasthan are on high alert amid the growing tensions between India and Pakistan. Other states sharing border with Pakistan like Gujarat and Chandigarh have also issued advisories with the citizens for their safety which includes blackout, stay indoors and closure of businesses and schools.
The conflict between India and Pakistan escalated over the last few days after India retaliated to terror attack In Jammu and Kashmir where 26 lives were lost. Pakistan escalated attacks on Indian states sharing border with them after India launched 'Operation Sindoor' on the night of May 6.
States across the country has heightened their security in order to be prepared for any form of escalation in the situation.
A high alert was issued in the border districts of Rajasthan on Saturday amid threats of potential strikes by Pakistan, officials said.
The district administrations and police officials have asked residents to remain indoors and avoid unnecessary movement.
In Barmer, warning sirens were sounded to alert people about the seriousness of the situation. Police teams have also intensified patrolling and announcements were made via police vehicles and public address systems to inform the public about the alert.
Markets in Barmer and Jaisalmer have also been closed as a precautionary measure.
A similar situation was observed in the Bikaner and Sri Ganganagar districts, where a high alert was also declared.
Multiple drone attacks were attempted by Pakistan on the night of Friday in Jaisalmer and Barmer districts. However, the drones were neutralized mid-air by the Indian defence forces.
The administration in Gujarat's Kutch issued an advisory on Saturday asking citizens to stay indoors and not step out unnecessarily in view of the military standoff between India and Pakistan.
The advisory has come after the Indian Armed Forces thwarted drone attacks from Pakistan at Kutch last night, and blackouts were enforced in Kutch and two other districts of Gujarat.
"All citizens should stay safe indoors. Do not step out of the house unnecessarily, and do not pay attention to any rumours. Do not panic," the Kutch collector stated in a post on the administration's official handle on 'X' in the morning.
District headquarters Bhuj was one of the 26 places along the international borders and the Line of Control with Pakistan where drones were sighted, the military said on Friday.
A blackout was enforced in Kutch and parts of Banaskantha and Patan districts of Gujarat close to the Indo-Pak border on Friday night.
Blackout was implemented in the Kutch district, with power supply cut off in some areas of Banaskantha and Patan districts, which are close to the Indo-Pak border.
Some villages bordering Santalpur taluka of Patan are also under blackout, it was stated.

In view of the prevailing circumstances, Chandigarh Deputy Commissioner (DC) Nishant Kumar Yadav issued an order on Friday, directing that all shopping malls, cinemas, restaurants, clubs and shops (except medical stores) shall remain closed from 7 pm on May 9 till 6 am on May 10.
Yadav briefed reporters about the preparedness measures being undertaken across the Union Territory (UT) in view of the prevailing situation.
The DC also issued an order prohibiting the bursting of any kind of fireworks, firecrackers or the like by the public during marriages, religious festivals and celebrations or any other kind of activities in the jurisdiction of UT Chandigarh.
This order shall remain in force from May 9 and shall be effective till July 7.
The noise made by such firecrackers can create panic amongst the public and may lead to deterioration of the law and order situation, according to the order.
The DC told reporters that while schools have been ordered to remain closed on Friday and Saturday, all coaching institutions up to Class 12 shall remain closed until further notice.
A day after Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi revealed that there is a threat from the sea amid the military conflict between India and Pakistan, the police on Saturday said it has ensured unprecedented security cover along the coastline and around vital installations in the state.
The state police have made special security arrangements for safeguarding various installations like the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur in Balaosre district, Shree Jagannath temple in Puri, Hirakud Dam in Sambalpur, Paradip Port in Jagatsinghpur, Ordinance Factory in Bolangir district and other public places.
Taking to X, the Odisha Police said, “The Indian Army is conducting Operation Sindoor and has issued a high alert. In this context, the state police is patrolling day and night to ensure the security of the coast of Odisha." Trawlers and all suspects are being thoroughly checked, they said.
"We are always ready to prevent any terrorist attack. We are always vigilant to provide safety to the public. Their safety is our priority," the Odisha Police said on social media.

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Saturday said he has urged security agencies in the state to maintain coordination among them to deal with any untoward situation, amid India-Pakistan military conflict.
Saha's comment comes a day after a high-level meeting between the chief minister and the representatives of the Army, BSF, CRPF and the state police was held to review the security measures.
The CM said he had a meeting with the representatives of central and state security agencies.
The Maharashtra government has taken all security precautions, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Saturday, against the backdrop of the widening conflict between India and Pakistan.
Fadnavis spoke to reporters in Alandi village after taking darshan of Sant Dnyaneshwar.
"Pakistan is a terrorist state. They have been supporting terrorism, but India won't stop. Under the leadership of PM Modi, our armed forces are giving a befitting response to Pakistan," he said.
When asked about the heightened security measures in Maharashtra, Fadnavis said a review meeting was held in Mumbai on Friday.
"All security precautions have been taken in the state in the wake of the current situation. Security information is provided to the district units, and resources are being made available," he said.
