India Hits Back After Overnight Escalation, Debunks Pakistan's False Claims | Operation Sindoor Update

Pakistani attacks on May 9-10 targeted civilian and military infrastructure across Western states. Several high speed missile attacks from Pakistan towards air force stations in Punjab, were also thwarted.

Following Pakistan's overnight attacks across India, the Ministry of Extenral Affairs and Defence has stated that India responded to a series of Pakistani attacks - ranging from the drone intrusions of Friday night to the early Saturday morning air raids.

The latest panel update on Operation Sindoor was led by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh.

Addressing reporters, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri stated that the Pakistani acts have constituted provocation and escalation, to which India has responded in "measured way." Government officials further added that India is in a "high state of operational readiness."

Indian Armed forces carried out retaliatory attacks in response to Pakistan's escalation and the government confirmed the attack on Pakistani airbases in Rawalpindi, Chakal and Shorkat.

Pakistan military appears to be moving its troops closer to border areas in a move to escalate the situation, the government added further.

On May 9, Pakistani drone intrusions were reported along the western border from Jammu to Bhuj, in Gujarat. As per the Defence Ministry these drone intrusions were carried out in over 26 sites, breaking the ceasefire for a third consecutive night.

All drone attacks and other projectiles were intercepted by the Indian armed forces and defence radar.

On May 10, several drones continue to be spotted and intercepted across Amritsar, Ferozepur, Jalandhar and other Punjabi cities.

At 4 AM on Saturday, three Pakistani air bases were hit with reports of multiple explosions heard near the Noor Khan base in Rawalpindi, Murid base in Chakwal, and Rafiqui base in Shorkot.

On Saturday morning, heavy shelling was reported in Jammu and Srinagar areas, shortly after Pakistan announced its operation Bunyan Ul Marsoos against India. As per Defence Ministry, Pakistan targeted "places of worship like the famous Shambhu Temple and residential areas in Jammu. Multiple armed drones have been sent through the night, endangering civilians and religious sites"
