Security forces and suspected terrorists exchanged fire following a search operation in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur district on Thursday, sources told PTI.
The firing took place in the Dudu-Basantgarh area during a cordon and search operation launched based on information about the presence of terrorists, they said.
The mortal remains of Indian Air Force Corporal Tage Hailyang, a native of Arunachal Pradesh, were flown in by a special flight to Guwahati in the early hours of Thursday.
Assam minister Jayanta Malla Baruah received the body at the Air Force base here around 1 am.
"Receiving the mortal remains of someone who travelled from afar only to return lifeless is an immensely painful experience. Tonight, with a heavy heart received the mortal remains of Corporal Tage Hailyang- brave son of Arunachal, at the Air Force base in Guwahati, who tragically lost his life in the barbaric terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir yesterday," Baruah posted on X.
The last rites of the victim Neeraj Udhwani are being performed in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut said, "Today, we have an all-party meeting, yet the government is unlikely to disclose its action plan, citing reasons of secrecy, as has often been the case."
"Still, it is our responsibility that in this time of national sorrow, we stand united with the government in whatever decisions it takes. If the government seeks the cooperation of the opposition in the interest of national security and public safety, we will fully support them," PTI quoted him as saying.
The Central Government will brief the leaders of various political parties about the Pahalgam terror attack and listen to their views in an all-party meeting to be held on Thursday evening.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Home Minister Amit Shah will brief the leaders, official sources said. Singh will chair the meeting.

Earlier, the airfare of flights out of Kashmir have surged in the wake of the terror attack in Pahalgam that killed at least 26 civilians and injured multiple. The price of a flight from Srinagar to Delhi for Thursday skyrocketed to as high as Rs. 65,000.
Pakistan has issued a notification to carry out a surface-to-surface missile test off its Karachi coast along its coastline within its Exclusive Economic Zone on April 24-25, ANI reported.

More than 500 people staged a protest near the Pakistan High Commission here against the Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people, mostly tourists were killed, as per the reports.

A second unreserved special train to New Delhi is scheduled to depart from Katra in Jammu on Thursday to help stranded tourists reach their respective destinations, PTI reported.
Anantnag Police on Thursday announced Rs. 20 lakh prize money for information that can lead to the militants involved in the Pahalgam attack. Yesterday, authorities released the names, pictures and names of the militants.

Three days after witnessing her father N Ramachandran being gunned down before her eyes, Arathi Menon is back home, still grappling with the trauma that unfolded in one of the most serene corners of the Kashmir Valley.
The idyllic greens of Baisaran in Pahalgam turned into a haunting memory for Menon, a native of Kochi, whose father was killed along with 25 others in the terror attack there.
"We thought it was fireworks at first," she recalls, her voice trembling. "But with the next shot, I knew... it was a terror attack," she told reporters here on Thursday.
Menon, her 65-year-old father, and her six-year-old twin sons were walking through a fenced grassland in Baisaran when the unimaginable happened. Her mother Sheela had stayed back in the car.
The tranquil family outing shattered in seconds. "We crawled under the fence to escape. People scattered in all directions. As we were moving, a man emerged from the woods. He looked straight at us," she said.
The stranger spoke words they couldn’t understand. "We replied, we don’t know. The next moment, he opened fire. My father collapsed beside us." "I saw two men, but they weren’t wearing any soldier라이브 바카라 uniform," she recalled.
"My sons started screaming, and the man walked off. I knew my father was gone. I grabbed the boys and just ran--into the forest, with no idea where I was going," she said, recounting how they wandered for nearly an hour through the wilderness.
When her phone finally picked up the signal, she called their driver, Musafir. "The ponies had started running too, and I just followed their footprints." But amidst the horror, Menon also found compassion--from strangers who treated her like family. "My driver Musafir and another man, Sameer-- they became my brothers. They stood by me through everything, took me to the mortuary, helped with the formalities. I waited there till 3 AM." As she left Srinagar, Menon had one thing to say to them: "I have two brothers in Kashmir now. May Allah protect you both." Even in the face of unbearable trauma, Menon found the strength to shield her loved ones from the harsh truth--especially her mother.

Indonesia on Thursday strongly condemned the Pahalgam terrorist attack, calling it a "heinous" act against civilians.
Ina Hagniningtyas Krisnamurthi, Indonesia's Ambassador to India, said such crimes are "unjustifiable, regardless of their motivations, whenever, wherever and whomsoever committed." "Our deepest condolences and sympathy go to the families of the victims, and we wish speedy recovery for all those injured," the envoy said at an event.

After a high-profile meeting on convened on Thursday, Pakistan announced suspension of SAARC visa privileges for Indian dignitaries in reaction to India라이브 바카라 diplomatic measures implemented yesterday, PTI reported.
It also declared suspension of all trade, including the routes through third countries, reported Reuters.
Pakistan's National Security Committee (NSC) has rejected the suspension of the Indus Water treaty. NSC officials warned that any move by India to divert the flow of water, lawfully belonging to Pakistan, will be considered an act of war.
The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday.
A Border Security Force jawan was detained by Pakistan Rangers after he accidentally crossed the international border in Firozpur of Punjab, while on duty. A flag meeting has been called to ensure the safe return of the jawan.

International flights of Air India and IndiGo have been impacted by the Pakistan airspace closure on Thursday, with the Tata Group-owned airline saying its flights connecting North America, the UK, Europe and the Middle East are likely to take an alternative extended route.
IndiGo said some of its international flights have been impacted due to the sudden airspace closure by Pakistan.
Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan due to the Pahalgam terror attack, Pakistan on Thursday said it will bar Indian airlines from using its airspace.
In a post on X, Air India said that due to the announced restriction of Pakistan airspace for all Indian airlines, it is expected that some Air India flights to or from North America, the UK, Europe, and the Middle East will take an alternative extended route.
"Air India regrets the inconvenience caused to our passengers due to this unforeseen airspace closure that is outside our control. We would like to reiterate that at Air India, the safety of our customers and crew remains top priority," the airline said.
IndiGo said that due to the sudden announcement of airspace closure by Pakistan, a few of our international flights are being impacted.
"We understood the inconvenience this may cause and our teams are doing their best to help you reach your destination at the earliest," the airline said in a post on X.

Pakistan has said it may suspend all bilateral agreements with India, including the Simla Agreement, in response to diplomatic steps taken by New Delhi following the deadly terror attack in Kashmir.
In a statement released on Thursday, the Prime Minister라이브 바카라 Office in Islamabad said: “Pakistan shall exercise the right to hold all bilateral agreements with India, including but not limited to Simla Agreement in abeyance, till India desists from its manifested behaviour of fomenting terrorism inside Pakistan; trans-national killings, and non-adherence to international law and UN Resolutions on Kashmir,” the Pakistan PMO statement said.
The Shimla Agreement, signed on 2 July 1972, was a peace treaty between India and Pakistan following the 1971 war that led to the creation of Bangladesh. The war broke out after India backed East Pakistan라이브 바카라 independence movement in the Bangladesh Liberation War, which ended with the defeat of Pakistani forces and the emergence of Bangladesh as a new country.
The agreement was signed by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and Pakistani President Zulfikar Ali Bhutto in Shimla. It aimed to lay the foundation for peaceful resolution of disputes through direct, bilateral dialogue between the two countries.
One of the key points of the agreement was mutual respect for the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir as it existed after the 1971 war. Both countries agreed not to change it unilaterally, regardless of ongoing disagreements or legal claims. The agreement also called on both sides to avoid the use or threat of force, and to respect each other라이브 바카라 territorial integrity and political independence.
The Indian Air Force is carrying out Exercise Aakraman (Attack) over a large area in the central sector involving its mainstream fighter aircraft fleets led by the Rafale combat aircraft.
The Indian Air Force operates two squadrons of the Rafale aircraft which are based out of Ambala and Hashimara in West Bengal.
"The cutting-edge technology fighter jets are carrying out complex missions involving ground attack and electronic warfare drills," defence sources told ANI.
"The assets of the Indian Air Force have been moved from multiple airbases, including from the eastern side," they added.
The Indian Air Force has been practising for complex ground attack missions for operations in different terrains, including plains and mountainous areas, the sources said.

The barbarism displayed in the Pahalgam terror attack is totally unacceptable, French President Emmanuel Macron told Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a phone conversation on Thursday.
President Macron conveyed his personal condolences on the "brutal killing" of innocent people in the heinous terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, external affairs ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in a social media post.
The prime minister thanked him for his message of support and conveyed India's strong resolve to bring the perpetrators to justice, he added.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni dialled PM Modi on Thursday and strongly condemned the "terrible" terror attack on Indian soil, according to external affairs ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal.
Jaiswal said PM Meloni strongly condemned the terrible terror attack on Indian soil and conveyed her thoughts and prayers for the victims.
"She expressed full support of Italy in the fight against terrorism. PM Modi appreciated her call and the clear message of support against terrorism and those behind it," he said.
Days after the Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people were killed, Hindu Raksha Dal on Thursday issued online threats to Kashmiri students living in Dehradun, asking them to leave the state immediately.
Scared by the threats issued through videos floating on social media platforms, the Kashmiri students approached the police, seeking protection. Dehradun SSP Ajai Singh said he held a meeting with the circle officers and the SHOs of different police stations after receiving complaints in this regard and asked them to stay vigilant and in touch with the Kashmiri students to keep them safe.
Singh said educational institutions where Kashmiri students study and managers of PGs where they stay have been asked to inform the police immediately in case of any perceived threat to their safety in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack. More than two dozen objectionable social media posts have also been removed, he said.

PTI cited sources as they reported that said troops were present in Pahalgam but were not deployed because the local authorities did not know about tourists being taken to Baisaran.
They said tour operators and local hoteliers did not inform the authorities about the movement of the tourists.
They underlined that deployment of forces takes place based on details provided by tour operators.
Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, on Thursday met the family of Bitan Adhikari, who was killed in the Pahalgam attack, and expressed hope that both the Centre and the state government would soon announce separate financial compensation for the bereaved family.
Adhikari also appealed to tourists to "avoid certain places" for the time being and hundreds of other places are there to visit.
Accusing Pakistan of sponsoring terror in the Kashmir Valley and elsewhere in India, Adhikari and several other BJP MLAs burnt a pile of green clothes, claiming that those represented the Pakistani flag, near the gate of the assembly.
Giving a call for annihilating terrorists, Adhikari said Pakistan will face the music for sponsoring terror attacks on Indian civilians.
"The number of casualties among perpetrators of terror attacks will be much higher than the number of 26," he said.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also spoke to Modi and conveyed condolences to the families of the victims.
In his phone conversation with Modi, Ishiba said terrorism cannot be justified.
"Both leaders emphasised that terrorism is a grave threat to humanity. Those who believe in democracy should stand united in the fight against terrorism," Jaiswal said.
Modi "shared assessment of the cross border terror attack and India's resolve to deal with it firmly and decisively", he said.
