Amid intensifying militant activities in the valley since the past few days, a fresh gunfight broke out between security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua on Monday night.
Since March 23, security forces have been looking for the militants who are believed to have crossed the International Border into Saniyal village in Hiranagar sector. On March 27, a gunfight in Kathua killed four police personnel and two terrorists believed to be from the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit.
Amid intensifying militant activities in the valley since the past few days, a fresh gunfight broke out between security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua on Monday night.
It has been reported that three militants were trapped by the forces in the upper reaches of Kathua. This was the third encounter in the region in the past nine days.
A police team also came under fire from the militants in the combing operation which was underway in the Panjtirthi area of the Ramkote belt, according to PTI. In a bid to ensure that the three terrorists trapped in the forest do not escape, a night cordon has been laid.
According to Security forces established fresh contact with the terrorists in the far-flung Ramkot area in the district. Reinforcements were sent to the site of the ongoing operation.
Commenting on the operation, Deputy Inspector General Shiv Kumar Sharma earlier told PTI that the operation would continue until the last terrorist is neutralised.
"The operation is ongoing, and as long as there is even one terrorist left, the Jammu and Kashmir Police will persevere in its mission. Our force is dedicated to eradicating terrorism and ensuring the safety of Jammu and Kashmir," Sharma told reporters in Reasi.
On March 23, the first gunbattle broke out near Sanyal village in Hiranagar sector of Kathua district which injured a girl who had to be hospitalised. Her condition was said to be stable. Following the initial gunbattle, the militants managed to escape from the point of first contact and the search operations continued.
On March 27, another gunfight occurred in Juthana in Kathua, which saw four police personnel losing their lives and two terrorists believed to be from the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit gunned down during an ongoing anti-terror operation
On Monday, the Jammu and Kashmir Police detained six members of a family, including four women, for allegedly helping the militants involved in last week라이브 바카라 Kathua encounter in which four policemen were killed.
According to a report by The Indian Express, the six detained were family members of an over-ground worker who is already in jail for allegedly providing logistical support for militants who attacked an Army convoy in Kathua라이브 바카라 Badnota village last year.
Apart from the six of this family, police had earlier picked up six others for questioning in connection with their search for the militants.
