A day after the deadly militant attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam which killed 26 people and injured several others, a gunfight broke out between militants and security forces in Kulgam, as per media reports.

It has been reported that the gunbattle is going on in the Tangmarg area of the south Kashmir district.

According to Greater Kashmir, police sources told that a cordon was laid in the area after receiving specific input about suspicious movement. Officials reportedly said that during the searches, security forces came under intense fire, triggering a gunfight in the area.

No casualties have been reported in the exchange of fire so far, officials told PTI.

Nearly a day after a Pahalgam terror attack, the Indian Army foiled an infiltration bid in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district on Wednesday. As per the official statement from Chinar Corps, two militants were killed during the operations.

"On 23 Apr 2025, approximately 2-3 UI terrorists tried to infiltrate through general area Sarjeevan at Uri Nala, Baramulla (in north Kashmir)," the Chinar Corps said in a post on X.

The alert troops on the LoC challenged and intercepted the infiltrators, resulting in a firefight, the army said. "The operation is in progress," it added.
