Meanwhile, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivkumar has distanced himself from the issue and stated that he has asked the concerned MPs to lodge a complaint regarding the honey trapping.
The petition before the Supreme Court was filed for urgent hearing. The top court has agreed to list the petition for hearing on Monday or Tuesday.
The controversy regarding the honey-trapping of public servants erupted after State Cooperation Minister KN Rajanna disclosed that he had fallen victim to the said scheme.
Speaking during a state assembly session, Rajanna stated that he had fallen prey to a honey-trap scheme and added that he was not the only victim.
The state minister stated around 40 politicians from various parties such as Congress, BJP and JDS have fallen for honey trapping.
Rajanna's revelation comes after BJP Minister V Sunil Kumar accused the Congress government of running a "honey trap factory" in the state.
The Deputy Chief minister and Congress state president distanced himself from the controversy and stated that the party has called for an investigation into the matter.
"I can't explain what he told me. I asked him to lodge a complaint," the deputy chief minister told reporters.
