An heinous militant attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam killing 26 people and injuring several others shook the whole nation on Tuesday. Harrowing visuals and videos from the ground zero across the social media platforms and TV channels have left us exasperated.

Amongst the 26 people who died, one was Shubham Dwivedi, a 31-year-old businessman from Kanpur who got married just two months back on February 12. He was gunned down right in front of his wife in Pahalgam on Tuesday.

After almost a day since the brutal attack, questioning the government's sensitivity, Shubham's cousin Saurabh Dwivedi posted on X about not getting any updates on Shubham's mortal remains.

On April 16, Shubham, his wife and nine other family members left for a week-long trip to Kashmir. As per PTI, the group included Shubham's parents, sister, brother-in-law, and her sister's in-laws.

Speaking to PTI, Shubham's uncle Manoj Dwivedi, living next-door in Kanpur, said that Shubham and his wife decided to go horse riding around noon on Tuesday while the rest of the family hung out near their hotel.

Their joyride took almost no time to turn into a nightmare as militants reportedly approached them, sought to know their identities before shooting Shubham on the head and killing him instantly in front of his wife.

According to Shubham's cousin Saurabh, one of the terrorists reportedly turned to his wife after killing Shubham and said, "Tell your government what we did to your husband."

Expressing condolences, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday said, "The death of Shubham Dwivedi from Kanpur district in the cowardly terrorist attack in Pahalgam is extremely sad. Today I spoke to his father, Sanjay Dwivedi, over the phone and expressed my condolences."

"In this hour of grief, the Uttar Pradesh government stands with the family with full commitment. The concerned officials of the state have been directed to bring the mortal remains to Kanpur with full respect', he added.
