Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a key defence meeting on Sunday. This meeting comes a day after India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire understanding, brokered by the United States.
This meeting was attended by the top defence officials such as Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan, and the tri-services chiefs.
This defence meeting also comes a day after India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire. However, this ceasefire was then also violated by Pakistan around 9 PM on Saturday.
Following this breach of the ceasefire understanding, India accused Pakistan of violating the terms of the understanding and asked it to take "appropriate steps" to address these violations and deal with the situation with "seriousness and responsibility".
After this meeting, the Indian Air Force has also stated that the IAF "has successfully executed its assigned tasks in Operation Sindoor, with precision and professionalism. Operations were conducted in a deliberate and discreet manner, aligned with National Objectives."
The IAF further added that the operations are "still ongoing" and more details will be shared soon.
On May 6-7, the Indian Armed Forces carried out Operation Sindoor - which targeted nine terror camps across 21 locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Following this, Pakistan retaliated by increasing its shelling along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir.
After tit-for-tat strikes on May 7-8, Pakistani drones were spotted and thwarted along the Line of Control and Intrernational Border.
