PM Modi Inaugurates WAVES In Mumbai | What Is The Summit All About

The World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) is a creative meeting ground where the best attributes of the old and the new in media can come together.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday inaugurated the first World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit or WAVES in Mumbai which is a four-day event that will bring together the various aspects of the media and entertainment industry's wide spectrum.

The four-day summit jointly organised by the central and state governments, is being held at the Jio World Convention Centre, Bandra Kurla Complex.

The prime minister also interacted young creators from around the globe who took part in 31 ‘Create in India’ challenges at the Creatosphere.

Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and Information and broadcasting minister Ashwini Vaishnaw are also expected address the inaugural session of the summit.

The summit is expected to witness participation from top actors such as Aamir Khan, Deepika Padukone, Chiranjeevi, Anil Kapoor, Anupam Kher, Rajinikanth, Mohanlal, Hema Malini, and Chiranjeevi, among others.

What Is WAVES?

The World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) is a creative meeting ground where the best attributes of the old and the new in media can come together.

Throughout the summit, the participants from across the globe are expected to witness thought-provoking plenary sessions and discussions on futuristic plans to improvise the audio-visual sector in India and globally.

Some of the key issues to be addressed in the summit include regulation of broadcasting in the digital age, copyright for audio-visual performers and content creators, the role of artificial intelligence in media, the future of theatrical releases, and the evolution of the AVGC-XR (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics and Extended Reality) sector.

WAVES In Mumbai: Day 1

As per media reports, the first day schedule includes a high-profile panel discussion titled 'Legends and Legacies: The Stories That Shaped India's Soul', featuring Hema Malini, Mithun Chakraborty, Rajinikanth, Mohanlal, and Chiranjeevi. The session will be moderated by actor Akshay Kumar.

The next highlight will be 'The New Mainstream: Breaking Borders, Building Legends', a panel with filmmaker SS Rajamouli, actors Anil Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal, and music maestro AR Rahman, moderated by producer-director Karan Johar.

The participants are also eagerly waiting for a conversation between Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and Karan Johar, titled 'The Journey: From Outsider to Ruler', will delve into the inspiring careers of the two actors.

The opening day will culminate in a star-studded cultural evening, with performances by maestros like Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Yella Venkateswara Rao, and Ronu Majumdar, alongside acts by the Tetseo Sisters, JHAALA, Shreya Ghoshal, KING x Alan Walker, and a special cinematic performance by Anupam Kher.
