The Supreme Court of India on Tuesday criticised the Bar Council of India (BCI) for meddling in the academic affairs of colleges and suggested that these matters should be left to academicians. The apex court made the observation while hearing pleas that contest the BCI라이브 바카라 decision to rid the one-year LLM course in the country and decertify foreign LLM degrees.

A bench composed of Justices Surya Kant and N Kotiswar Singh observed their reservation about the BCI라이브 바카라 interference in the legal academics in the country. They also pointed out that the BCI has a broader responsibility to conduct training programmes and also update the knowledge base of the huge class of lawyers in the country.

Representing the BCI, Senior Advocate Vivek Tankha argued that there is an existing system and the council had formed a committee of stakeholders with a former Chief Justice of India at its helm to set up a framework for equating one-year two-year LLM degrees. The top court responded to the argument stating that, “You (BCI) have imposed yourself and claimed you are the only authority in this country. You can have training on the art of drafting, understanding case laws, etc., and it should be part of your statutory responsibility. The curriculum has to be entrusted to the academicians.”

The court while posting the matter for July has sought responses from the centre and the University Grants Commission. They have also urged attorney general R Venkataramani to aid in the matter.
