Several schools in Jammu and Kashmir have reopened on May 13 after a ceasefire was established leading to the cessation of the ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan. In a post on X, J&K Education Minister Sakina Itoo asserted that, “All schools and colleges will reopen from May 13 in non-border districts of Jammu as well as Kashmir."

The official account of the Information and Public Relations Department, J&K, wrote on X earlier that, “The Government has decided to re-open schools and colleges in all non-border districts of Jammu as well as Kashmir divisions from tomorrow, 13th of May, 2025.
Visuals have surfaced where children can be seen returning to schools in the area, as reported by ANI.
The schools in the border districts of Poonch, Jammu, Samba, Kathua and Rajouri will remain shut until further orders, according to the Deputy Commissioner of Jammu.
J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah also visited the Poonch district on Sunday to meet with the families of those who lost their family members in the shelling.
Schools in some areas of Punjab have also been reopened while educational institutions in Pathankot, Fazilka and Tarn Taran remain closed.
