Tahawwur Rana Likely To Land In India Soon; Tihar Jail Security Tightened

The Indian officials are reportedly expecting fresh leads on the involvement of other attackers in Mumbai terror attack case. Tihar Jail's security has been tightened as per reports and e may be lodged in a high-security cell.

Mumbai terror attack accused Tahawwur Rana has reportedly been extradited and is currently flying to India along with the authorities. Several reports have also said that Indian jails including the Tihar Jail in Delhi is being prepped with special arrangements for Rana.

India Today reported that Rana was put on a special flight to India around 7:10 pm(IST) from the US and will be kept in Tihar central prison tomorrow when he arrives here on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Times of India earlier reported that one jail in Delhi and another in Mumbai, without specifying the names, have been asked to make 'special arrangements in line with US judiciary recommendations about extradited subjects'.

What Legal Procedures May Follow After Rana's Arrival In India?

According to Times of India, Rana will be produced before a special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court at Patiala House in Delhi upon his arrival.

Further suring the trial, the NIA is expected to seek custodial interrogation to confront him with evidence which includes emails, travel records, and testimonies already collected.

While securing the extradition, India had given assurances to US authorities over Rana's safety, legal rights, and prison conditions.

Tahawwur Rana's Extradition

The US Supreme Court has rejected 26/11 Mumbai terror attack accused Tahawwur Rana's appeal seeking a stay on his extradition to India, moving him closer to being handed over to Indian authorities to face justice.

The US Supreme Court had earlier denied Rana's petition for a writ of certiorari relating to his original habeas petition on January 21.

Rana, 64, a Canadian national of Pakistani origin, is currently lodged at a metropolitan detention centre in Los Angeles.

He is known to be associated with Pakistani-American terrorist David Coleman Headley, one of the main conspirators of the 26/11 attacks. Headley conducted a recce of Mumbai before the attacks by posing as an employee of Rana라이브 바카라 immigration consultancy.

A total of 166 people, including six Americans, were killed in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks in which 10 Pakistani terrorists laid a more than 60-hour siege, attacking and killing people at iconic and vital locations in Mumbai.

When Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Washington on February 12 to meet with Trump, Rana라이브 바카라 counsel received a letter from the Department of State, stating that “on February 11, 2025, the Secretary of State decided to authorise” Rana라이브 바카라 "surrender to India,” pursuant to the “Extradition Treaty between the United States and India”.

During a joint press conference with Prime Minister Modi in the White House in February, President Donald Trump announced that his administration has approved the extradition of "very evil" Rana, wanted by Indian law enforcement agencies for his role in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, "to face justice in India”.
