Things are moving fast with a lot of developments taking place at once. Here is a wrap of all the major news surrounding the IPL 2025 on April 29, 2025.

PBKS' Glenn Maxwell Dilemma

'The Bigshow' of cricket, Glenn Maxwell has failed to light up this IPL 2025 with Punjab Kings despite the latter being a force to reckon with in the tournament. Maxwell's poor run with the bat has seen him amass mere 48 runs in seven matches with a strike rate of 97.96.

Maxwell, who is coached by a fellow Aussie Ricky Ponting, has not been his best so far this season despite PBKS finding themselves in the playoffs spot race. Such was Maxwell's rut with the bat, that the all-rounder was brutally trolled online by fans in their game as KKR.

"Maxwell Flop show continue," wrote one user. "Getting Maxwell out has become a joke these days," another pointed out.

What's Going Wrong At CSK This Season?

Chennai Super Kings (CSK), five-time champions, find themselves at the bottom of the IPL 2025 points table. With two wins from the possible 9 matches, the MS Dhoni-led outfit are out of the playoffs race for good. However, concerns are aplenty as how a star-studded side could be so average especially on their own backyard!

Chennai Super Kings' two wins this season have come against LSG and MI but with ageing players in the squad, the owners and management could rejig come next season. The question remains, whether is this the last of we see MS Dhoni in IPL as well as CSK colours?

Suryavanshi Takes Social Media By Storm

14-year-old batting prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi smashed 101 runs off 38 balls for Rajasthan Royals against Gujarat Titans in their IPL 2025 match on Monday, April 28. Such was his encore, that the whole cricketing as well other media personnel, could not stop raving about the batting talent.

"Vaibhav's fearless approach, bat speed, picking the length early, and transferring the energy behind the ball was the recipe behind a fabulous innings. End result: 101 runs off 38 balls. Well played!" the iconic Sachin Tendulkar, himself a child prodigy who went on to become one of the best batters in the game, wrote on 'X'

Piers Morgan, the international TV News host, wrote, "14 years old… just astounding. India may have found a new Little Master, Sachin!" wherein he QT'd Tendulkar's tweet on Suryavanshi.

Cricketer-turned-commentator Ian Bishop was left stunned by Suryavanshi's onslaught.

"I hope we don't go too far with praising him, but you cannot step back from the fact that tonight was absolutely mind-blowing, other-worldly," he said on 'ESPNCricinfo'.
