A top official from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed to India Today that the tournament will restart with the much-anticipated clash between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). The final is expected to be held on either May 30 or June 1.

According to India Today reports, the remaining matches of the season will be played across four venues. Hyderabad is likely to host Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator, while Kolkata has been earmarked to host Qualifier 2 and the final.

However, in light of potential inclement weather in Kolkata during that time, the BCCI is keeping Ahmedabad as a backup venue for the final and knockout games.

The resumption comes after the tournament was abruptly halted on May 9, a day after the Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals match in Dharamsala was abandoned midway due to air raid alerts in nearby regions of Jammu and Pathankot.

The ongoing crisis was triggered by a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22, escalating border tensions between the two nations.

While most overseas players departed for their home countries following the suspension on May 10, franchises have now begun making arrangements to bring them back. RCB, who are set to play the first match upon resumption, confirmed that all their foreign players had flown back home during the break.

The abandoned Punjab vs Delhi match is expected to be treated as a no-contest, with both teams likely to be awarded one point each. The reworked IPL schedule is expected to be officially announced by the BCCI soon.
