IPL 2025 Suspension: Will Punjab Kings Vs Delhi Capitals Match Be Replayed Or It Has Been Abandoned?

In view of escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 was suspended on Friday for a week. Further decision on the restart of the tournament will be taken as per the security situation and after consultation with authorities, BCCI had said in its release.

The suspension came a day after the ongoing game between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamsala was abandoned midway due to floodlight failure amid the escalating security situation. After choosing to bat first, PBKS were cruising at 122/1 in just 10.1 overs when the game could not be continued further and players along with spectators and others were evacuated from the picturesque Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium.

The abrupt cancellation of the game has left the fans of both DC and PBKS thinking whether the match will be replayed when the IPL resumes or it has been officially abandoned and both teams will share a point each.

The two points were really crucial for both the teams. With a win, PBKS would have qualified for the IPL Play-offs for the first time since 2014. DC would have also broken into the top four had they won the game. However, at this point confusion over the game's result continues.

The official IPL website shows the match result as "abandoned". However, the official points table has not updated the points for both the teams which were involved. The points table shows both teams having played only 11 matches. This suggests that the result of the match might not be official and there is a high possibility that the match will be replayed.

Media reports too suggest that whenever the IPL 2025 resumes, it will start with the PBKS vs DC clash which was abruptly cancelled. However, there has been no official word on it yet which has left the fans guessing.
