The Shreyas Iyer-led Kings defeated CSK by 18 runs in a thrilling contest where the visitors found their fourth defeat of the season.

PBKS won the toss and opted to bat first. This was the first occasion in this season when a team opted to bat first in a night's game.

Priyansh Arya looked in fine touch from the word go when he sent the first ball of the match for a six. He hit another six in the over of Khaleel Ahmed to collect 17 runs from the opening over.

But the other opener batter Prabhsimran Singh lost his wicket in the next over. Khaleel bowled Shreyas Iyer in the next over as well.

Marcus Stoinis, Nehal Wadhera and Glenn Maxwell also failed to score in double digits and PBKS were once reeling at 83/5 after eight overs.

But Arya kept finding boundaries from the other end. He added 71 runs with Shashank Singh for the sixth wicket and went on to score his maiden IPL century.

He became the fastest uncapped player in the history of the IPL when he reached the milestone in just 39 balls. He made 103 runs off 42 balls which included seven fours and nine sixes. He also became the joint-fourth fastest batter to hit IPL hundred.

Shashank Singh (52 not out off 36 balls) added 65 runs for the seventh wicket with Marco Jansen (34 not out off 19 balls) and took the team's total to 219 runs.

In response, Rachin Ravindra and Devon Conway started well and added 61 runs for the first wicket. Ruturaj Gaikwad failed to score again and lost his wicket for just one run.

Shivam Dube looked in fine touch and made a crucial 42 off 27 balls. Conway scored his half-century in 37 balls and looked struggling to connect the ball.

He was retired out in the 16th over and Ravindra Jadeja was called to bat. CSK need 59 runs in the last three overs.

After this win, the Kings are placed at the fourth place in the points table with three wins in four matches. CSK, on the other hand, are placed ninth of the table with one win in five matches.

Now, CSK will face Kolkata Knight Riders at Chepauk on Friday, 11 April. Punjab Kings will clash with Sunrisers Hyderabad on Saturday, 12 April in Hyderabad.
