Shreyas Iyer came to the crease, but suddenly, one of the towers of floodlights went off. Umpires waited for some time, but when it took more time to be repaired, they advised players to go back to their respective dugouts.
Two other floodlights went off after some time and the spectators were evacuated following that.
"Due to a power outage in the area, one of the light towers at the HPCA stadium malfunctioned. BCCI regrets the inconvenience caused to the in-stadium attendees," an official statement said.
The match has officially been called off due to power failure and the players have been advised to evacuate the HPCA Stadium as soon as possible. Both teams shared one point each.

Earlier on Thursday, BCCI shifted Punjab Kings' next match against Mumbai Indians from Dharamsala to Ahmedabad due to security reasons.
