It may have come in a losing cause, but it was a spectacle to behold nonetheless. Rajasthan Royals skipper Riyan Parag bludgeoned six sixes of successive deliveries in an imperious 45-ball 95 on Sunday (May 4), even as Kolkata Knight Riders emerged victors in match 53 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 by a slender one-run margin at the Eden Gardens. Parag thus became the first batter in the IPL to smash six sixes off back-to-back deliveries, breaking the record jointly held by Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard and Rinku Singh - all of whom had hit five sixes in a row earlier.

Injecting urgency into the Royals' pursuit of a 207-run target, Parag struck three crisp boundaries and two sixes early on to offset the dismissals of Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Kunal Singh Rathore inside the first two overs. KKR spin twins Moeen Ali and Varun Chakravarthy then turned the game around, reducing RR to 71/5.

Shimron Hetmyer then joined Parag and after settling down, gave the strike to the captain after the first ball of the 13th over bowled by Ali. Parag launched into the off-spinner, thwacking him for five consecutive sixes in a jaw-dropping 32-run over.

Parag did not stop there, however. In the next over, bowled by Chakravarthy, Hetmyer again took a single off the first ball, and Parag reverse-swept the mystery spinner over backward point to make it six straight sixes off his bat. You can watch the video of the carnage below.

In the process, Parag raced to his maiden fifty of the season in just 27 balls and added 92 runs for the sixth wicket with Hetmyer. The hosts eventually had the last laugh, however, getting rid of both batters in time to restrict the Royals to 205 for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs.

Rajasthan, who are already out of playoffs contention, next face Chennai Super Kings, who have also been eliminated, in Chennai on May 12.
