Faf du Plesiss and Karun Nair open the batting for Delhi Capitals, and Pat Cummins has the new ball for SunRisers Hyderabad. Nair with first strike.
DC: 0/0 (0)
And what a way to begin things for SRH! Pat Cummins gets Karun Nair's wicket from the very first ball. It's a good length first ball, and gets the slightest of nicks back to the wicketkeeper, and the stadium erupts.
Karun Nair 0(1) c Kishan b Cummins
DC: 3/1 (1)
What a terrific start from SRH's bowlers. Just six runs so far, and DC have already lost one of their openers. They could have lost another one, but du Plessis barely made his ground after a direct hit.
DC: 6/1 (2)
Captain Cummins strikes again!! A delivery on the shorter side from Cummins, and du Plessis looks to hit it big towards mid-wicket, but only manages to get a thick edge that Kishan grabs easily.
Faf du Plessis 3(8) c Kishan b Cummins
DC: 11/2 (3)
And the Cummins show continues. After Abishek Porel hit the first boundary of the game off him in the third over, the Aussie gets the last laugh. A terrific ball aiming for the leg stump, and Porel tries to swipe it towards the leg side but gets a massive leading edge. It goes high up in the air, and Kishan calls for it, and ends up making a terrific diving catch. The captain gets his third wicket.
Abishek Porel 8(10) c Kishan b Cummins
The dream start for SRH goes on, as Harshal Patel gets a wicket in his first wicket. The bowler takes off the pace of his delivery, which tricks Axar Patel into hitting a big shot, but the one handed drive only reaches as far as Pat Cummins at mid-off. The captain, racing back, takes a good catch, and DC are four down inside the PowerPlay.
Axar Patel 6(7) c Cummins b Patel
DC: 26/4 (6)
And the wickets continue to tumble down for DC. This time it's Jaydev Unadkat, and he gets the skipper with a high-risk delivery. It's a full delivery, and Rahul looks to hit it towards off-side. The ball swings slightly, and gets an edge and Kishan takes a terrific diving catch, and it's five down for DC.
KL Rahul 10(14) c Kishan b Unadkat
DC: 30/5 (8)
DC batters look to target the spinners, and Vipraj hits a big six down the leg side off Zeeshan Ansari. The first boundary in 23 balls, and the first six of the innings. It releases some of the pressure on the middle order batters for Delhi.
The spinner makes a good comeback, with four dot balls, but Vipraj gets a lucky boundary in the last ball with a thick outside edge. Crucial runs.
DC: 47/5 (9)
Delhi Capitals' innings continues to crumble down, and this wound is self-inflicted. Absolute miscommunication between the two batters after Stubbs hits a drive towards mid-wicket and takes a quick single, and then runs back for two without even looking at his strike partner. Vipraj is rooted in his crease, and sees Stubbs run past him as Aniket Verma hits the stumps.
There's a bit of confusion as to WHICH of the batters was out, but Vipraj has to go back, as Stubbs passed him while the batter was out of his crease.
Vipraj Nigam 18(17) run out Verma/Ansari
DC: 67/6 (13)
Impact sub Ashutosh Sharma has started firing, hitting two massive sixes off Zeeshan. The first one flies over long on, but the next one is even more massive, hitting it straight up. The ball goes high up in the air, but goes over the line.
The spinner almost gets the perfect reply, getting a leading edge off Ashutosh, but it falls safely in mid-wicket.
DC: 86/6 (15)
Ashutosh is adding vital runs for DC, hitting back-to-back fours off Harshal Patel, one towards backward point and the other over mid-off. 12 runs off that over, and DC are over the 100-run mark.
DC: 105/6 (17)
Eshan Malinga gets an important wicket in the final over. A short and slow delivery from the pacer, and Ashutosh tries to hit it big towards mid-wicket, finding Abhinav Manohar, who takes a routine catch. A great innings from the batter, but he can't see it off for DC.
Ashutosh Sharma 41(26) c Manohar b Malinga
28 runs from the final three overs, and Delhi Capitals end the first innings with a total of 133. Most of the credit will go to Ashutosh Sharma, whose quickfire 41-run innings will give Mitchell Starc and co. something to defend in the second innings.
DC: 133/7 (20)
The drizzle is still going on at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. The covers have come on, but hopefully, it all fades before the overs start being cut.
We still have a bit more than half-an-hour before we start losing overs in the match.
The rain has turned much heavier, and water has collected on the pitch. It does not look well at the moment. A reminder: the cut-off time for a five-over match is 11:42 PM IST, so we still have some time.
What happens if the match is washed out? How does it impact SRH and DC's play-off hopes? Know it here.
The umpires are out on, and are seen in discussion with match offiical. The supersopper are out on the pitch, and rain seems to have stopped. We will be back with more information about resumption of play as and when they are revealed.
The pitch is full of puddles of water, and the groundsmen have a huge task on their hand at the moment.
Good news, as the umpires are out inspecting the condition of the ground. The covers are mostly off the pitch, but the ground itself looks very damp at the moment. The umpires' expressions are also not looking very positive at the moment.
We await offiical information at the moment. Slightly more than half-an-hour before the five-over cut-off expires.
It's not good news out of Hyderabad, as the match has been abandoned due to wet outfield.
This means that SRH are effectively eliminated from the play-off race, while DC get a point from a game they would have struggled to get anything out of.
