Mumbai City FC secured a spot in the playoffs of the Indian Super League with a 2-0 victory over Bengaluru FC at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium on Tuesday. The Islanders finished the league season in sixth place with 36 points, while the team coached by Gerard Zaragoza wrapped up their campaign with 38 points. From the beginning, Mumbai City's attacking unit displayed impressive coordination and intensity. Jorge Ortiz came close to scoring early on, hitting the crossbar with a left-footed shot after receiving a pass from Lallianzuala Chhangte inside the 18-yard box. The visitors pressed forward aggressively, with Nikolaos Karelis narrowly missing a header that went just past the post from six yards out. However, Karelis finally made an impact by providing a clever pass to Chhangte in the penalty area. The captain capitalized on the opportunity, slotting the ball into the center of the net from close range in the eighth minute to open the scoring with his right foot.
