The annual Golden Globes Awards that honour the best in television and film, took place on Sunday at the Beverly Hilton in California. Golden Globe for Best Director in the Motion Picture category went to Brady Corbet for his film, The Brutalist. He defeated Payal Kapadia who was nominated for All We Imagine As Light.
All We Imagine As Light also lost to France's Emilia Pérez in the Best Motion Picture-Non-English Language category at the 82nd Golden Globes. Has Payal won this award, she would have become the first Indian female director to win in this category. However, her nomination itself in the category of the prestigious award is a major achievement for Indian cinema.
All We Imagine As Light achieved major milestones last year. The film won the prestigious Grand Prix award at the 77th Cannes Film Festival and recently earned three nods on the 2025 BAFTA longlist- Best Director, Original Screenplay and Best Film not in the English language.
It also bagged awards at Gotham Awards, Los Angeles Film Critics Association, Phoenix Critics Circle, San Diego Film Critics Society, New York Film Critics Circle, Toronto Film Critics Association, among others.
The critically-acclaimed film stars Kani Kusruti, Divya Prabha, and Chhaya Kadam in key roles.
