EXTERNAL Affairs Minister I.K. Gujral has taken a bold step by unilaterally easing visa rules for Pakistanis and allowing Pakistani newspapers inIndia. These steps are going to raise a lot of dust in India. But it will also put pressure on the Pakistan government to take some reciprocal measures, if not match them completely. Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan is perhaps as popular in India as he is in his own country. But for cultural ambassadors like him, it has not been easy to travel across the border. For his Indian counterparts, it is even more difficult to go to Pakistan.
