The opinion polls have been pessimistic about your chances.
I dont believe in these opinion polls. One opinion poll put us second with 17 per cent votes, ahead of the P P P and another put us as 10 to 12 per cent. I believe that till the last day the people change and we have a great upsurge. There is already a little wave building up.
What is your stand on ties with India?
I believe that ties with India have to be good in the long run for the sake of both countries. Unfortunately, we have this problem of Kashmir and it is impossible for the two countries to really have a relationship if the Kashmir situation is going on. So the Kashmir issue should be solved at all costs. Only strong governments will solve it.
Do you think the elections in Kashmir will improve the situation?
Not the elections that were held. They were not proper elections.
Should the Eighth Amendment be repealed?
We want Article 58-2 (b) removed. Its wrong that a democratically elected government should be sacked by the president.
What would be your course of action if you are in Parliament?
Its a movement (his party) and it will continue. Nothing can stop Tehrik -i -Insaf. Were the only party thats going up. The other two main parties are going down. Were the party of the future . Though people do not give us much chance because of our inexperience, we might actually surprise people in these elections because the country basically wants a change.
Youve called for public hanging of the corrupt. It sounds barbaric to us in India and the people in the West.
Im surprised you find it barbaric in India. In England, they would, because they havent seen the level of corruption we are facing now. Theyll find it very barbaric that 2.7 lakh children die every year because they dont have access to clean drinking water in this country. These people have been denied basic rights only because there is looting by the political leadership. Its time these people were held accountable because I blame them for these deaths.

Its a non-issue in Pakistan.
Your supporters blame the PML for fuelling the Sita White affair.
Ive absolutely no doubt they have a hand in it. Money has either been paid to journalists or it has come into play because Nawaz Sharif has always done the politics of business. He is the first one who started buying journalists . He is the first one who perfected horse-trading into a fine art. He even sent a Mercedes Benz to the late army chief Gen. Asif Nawaz Janjua, who rejected it.
Who is your idol in politics?
In modern day politics my idol is Mahathir Mohammad.

Not really, because theres no comparison between politics here and politics there.
Will you carry on in politics even if you do badly?
Of course. This is the first milestone for us. I look upon it as an experience.
