The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will begin the long-awaited process of electing its national president once the current session of Parliament concludes, sources informed NDTV on Tuesday.

The ongoing Budget session of Parliament will wrap up on April 4, following a debate on the contentious Waqf Amendment Bill, which is set to be introduced in the Lok Sabha on April 2.

Jagat Prakash Nadda assumed the role of BJP working president in 2019, and in January 2020, he was unanimously elected as the national president. His term was extended until June 2024 due to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

In addition to his role as national president, Nadda serves as the Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, as well as the Minister of Chemicals and Fertilisers in the Modi government 3.0.

For the party, it will be a complex challenge in selecting its next president. The decision must factor in caste considerations, regional tensions between the North and South amid ongoing debates on delimitation and language row.

The party라이브 바카라 losses in Uttar Pradesh, which cost it a solo majority in the Lok Sabha, as well as the upcoming Assembly polls in Bihar, have led to speculation that the new leader may come from these regions in a bid to draw relevant strategies. The Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls are slated for 2027.
