Aces skipper Finn Allen's decision to bat first backfired as they lost wickets at regular intervals. Reeling at 57/5, a lower-order fightback from Lachlan Stackpole and Louis Delport, gave the Aces a fighting total on the board.
Lachlan Stackpole's unbeaten 58 off 64 deliveries came in handy as the Aces could only muster 250 in their allotted 50 overs.
For the Kings, Zakary Foulkes (3/40) and Ish Sodhi (3/53) scalped three each as they restricted the Aces' batters early on in the innings.
In reply, the Kings started off well as New Zealand opener Henry Nicholls (52) and Rhys Mariu (24) gave them a solid start. But it was wicketkeeper-batter Mitchell Hay's 86 that handed the game as Canterbury cantered to a victory with four overs to spare.
