"He (Rahul) will open the innings. I will play somewhere in the middle," Rohit was quoted as saying by the PTI.

Rohit joined the touring party in Australia after a short paternity leave for the birth of his son, and the returning skipper said that the continuity would be beneficial for the team and is result, success oriented.

"We want result, we want success. Those two guys at the top they batted brilliantly in Perth.

"I was watching from home. Rahul was brilliant to watch. He deserves that place at this point in time.

"There is no need to change that now, may be things will be different in future. Personally not easy for me (to move down) but for the team it made a lot of sense,"  Rohit added.

Rahul who faced the media on Wednesday said that he would be happy and comfortable to bat in any position, and has also overcome the mental challenges of a floater in the setup.
