Speaking at a press conference alongside Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha and Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, Kejriwal outlined the allegations in detail.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal launched a sharp attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday, accusing it of attempting to manipulate voter lists in the national capital ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.
Kejriwal referred to the alleged activity as “Operation Lotus” and claimed that the BJP was resorting to such tactics after realizing its electoral defeat was imminent due to a lack of strong candidates and vision.
Speaking at a press conference alongside Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha and Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, Kejriwal outlined the allegations in detail. He claimed that the BJP had been orchestrating this scheme since December 15, filing large numbers of voter deletion and addition applications with the aim of influencing the vote tally in crucial constituencies.
“The BJP has already accepted its defeat in Delhi. They have no chief ministerial face, no vision, and no credible candidates. To win the elections at any cost, they are resorting to dishonest tactics like manipulating the voter list,” Kejriwal said.
He gave the example of his own constituency - New Delhi - as a key example of the alleged manipulation. According to Kejriwal, 5,000 voter deletion applications and 7,500 addition requests had been submitted in just over two weeks. He claimed that these changes could potentially affect 12 percent of the constituency라이브 바카라 voters, which totals 106,873, according to the latest published voter list from October 29.
“This kind of manipulation undermines democracy. We have exposed this, and thankfully, the Election Commission intervened to stop it in some places, but we need strict monitoring to ensure this does not happen elsewhere,” Kejriwal added.
The AAP chief further alleged that BJP라이브 바카라 attempts to alter voter rolls were not confined to the New Delhi constituency but also extended to Shahdara, where the BJP reportedly submitted 11,800 voter deletion applications, but this effort was halted after intervention from the Election Commission of India (ECI).
The accusations come against the backdrop of a summary revision of voter lists by the ECI conducted between August 20 and October 20, 2024. Kejriwal raised concerns that the BJP라이브 바카라 challenge to the legitimacy of 12 percent of the newly added voters raised serious questions about the credibility of the ECI itself.
Kejriwal urged Election Registration Officers (EROs) to exercise caution and integrity in their work, emphasizing that any manipulation of voter lists would not go unnoticed. “Remember, your signatures will remain on those files for years. Do not commit any wrongdoing; otherwise, you will be held accountable,” he warned, urging officials to resist political pressure and follow the law
The AAP leader's allegations coincide with earlier claims made by Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, who accused BJP leaders of bribing voters in the New Delhi constituency. Atishi alleged that BJP MP Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma had been distributing money at his official residence to sway voter sentiment in his favor.
The BJP is yet to respond to the allegations.
